A Gift For You...
A man lay on his bed at the end of his life waiting to die.
His dream came to pay his last respects
and bid farewell to the man who had never used it.

A Locked-In Retirement Account (LIRA) is a Canadian investment account designed specifically to hold locked-in pension funds for former plan members. Funds held inside a LIRA will normally only become available (or “unlocked”) upon retirement. However, by using the i-Finance Loan Program you can borrow the value of your LIRA today for your current investment financing needs while still preserving your LIRA and its growth for retirement!
Access the value of your LIRA in just 3 easy steps!
1. Transfer your LIRA or Pension to a Self-directed RRSP Account with one of our RRSP trustees.
Please note: Only pensions’ from previous employers can be used with our program.
2. Direct the funds in your LIRA to invest in our eligible bonds. These bonds bear a 4% interest rate, compounded annually for a 10-year term.
3. At the same time, apply for a loan for the same value as the money you’ve invested with us. This loan has a fixed rate of interest for a maximum 10-year term on an unsecured basis. Loan proceeds can be used for whatever you need to finance, no restrictions!

What Are the Rates?

The Loan application Fee is $250 or 1% of the loan amount, whichever is greater, and payable at the time of loan application.
Repayment Options
- Blended Monthly Interest and Principal Payments
Clients agree to pay a blended payment every month for the term of the loan. Each monthly payment reduces the original principal, thereby reducing the interest paid.
- Monthly Interest Only Payments (with Principal owing at the end of the term)
Clients agree to pay interest-only every month for the term of the loan with the principal owing at the end of the 10-year term. Clients can choose to make lump sum payments as they see fit during the term of the loan without penalty.
