A Gift For You...
A man lay on his bed at the end of his life waiting to die.
His dream came to pay his last respects
and bid farewell to the man who had never used it.
As it entered the room the man looked down in shame.
"Why did you not realize me ?" the dream asked.
"Because I was afraid," the man said.
"Afraid of what," said the dream.

The dream was softer now, because it knew that there were two types of pain,
the pain of discipline and the pain of regret,
and while discipline weighs ounces, regret weighs pounds.
Then the dream leant forward to gently wipe away the tear and said,
"You need only have taken the first step
and I would have taken one to meet you,
for the only thing that ever separated us
was the belief in your mind that you couldn't have me".
What Comes After a Trillion?

Zimbabwe,
once known as the breadbasket of Africa, is suffering from acute hyperinflation
that is currently estimated to be about nine-million percent and predicted to
hit 100-million percent within three months. Many schools and hospitals are
barely functioning as teachers and nurses flee to South Africa in search of a
salary that can feed their families; people struggle with intermittent power
supplies and water shortages. In May, the government issued a Z$50-billion note;
at the time it was worth about $4; now it is just 33 cents, and that won't be
for long in a country where there are hourly price rises. One retiree, once
comfortably off, now collects two government pensions monthly worth $Z109
billion (73 cents) and Z$130 billion (90 cents) respectively. Retired people in
general have seen their pensions wiped out by inflation and increasingly require
handouts in order to get by. Many Zimbabweans have become black market traders,
selling maize to individuals instead of the state-run Grain Marketing Board in
direct contravention of strict state rules. Even for those with money, shopping
is a
logistical nightmare: cash is hard to come by; those who have it want to get rid
of it as soon as possible since it loses value so quickly; stores have little in
the way of goods to sell. Those with hard currency can visit underground
supermarkets set up in warehouses, by appointment only. Although it is a crime
to accept foreign currency, some businesses are doing so regardless. Gasoline is
available only in exchange for US dollars, after the government accepted that
this was the only way Shell and BP would bring it into the country. The
situation will likely get worse as the food supply tightens following the
government's banning of foreign aid organizations in rural areas. People are
beginning to starve, and this year Zimbabwe will produce only about a quarter of
the grain required to feed its people. Is the hyperinflation that is occurring
